Multi-mode Microplate Readers

BMG LABTECH’s broad line of multi-functional plate readers (fluorometer, luminometer, spectrometer, spectrophotometer) offers an immense range of measurement possibilities. The newest microplate reader family is the Omega series of four fully upgradeable multi-functional readers which offer high resolution spectrometer based absorbance. They were launched at SBS in Montreal 2007 and are the world’s first multifunctional readers capable of capturing a full absorbance spectrum (220-850 nm) in 1 second per well, at a resolution of 1 nm. The FLUOstar OPTIMA, one of the most popular multifunctional plate readers in the world, can be used for fluorescence (fluorometer), time-resolved fluorescence, luminescence (luminometer) and absorbance measurements (spectrometer/spectrophotometer). The NOVOstar is the only multimode reader with an integrated pipetting system – the perfect instrument for monitoring fast kinetic reactions such as intracellular calcium flux or enzymatic turnover. Dedicated Microplate Readers

For very special applications, BMG LABTECH offers dedicated plate readers, such as the NEPHELOstar, RUBYstar and LUMIstar OPTIMA. The NEPHELOstar, a laser-based microplate nephelometer, is used for solubility testing of compounds as well as for detection of bacterial growth. The RUBYstar is a dedicated plate reader for HTRF®, one of the most powerful high-throughput screening methods, and the LUMIstar Optima is a high-performance plate reader for luminescence based assays (luminometer).

This new multi-detection microplate reader (fluorometer, luminometer, spectrometer, spectrophotometer) for life science laboratories features high speed full spectrum absorbance, as well as three additional detection modes including fluorescence intensity (fluorometer), time-resolved fluorescence, and high-performance luminescence (luminometer) for 6-384-well plates. On-board reagent injectors with individually adjustable delivery volumes for each well can be used to initiate kinetic events. Top and bottom plate reading, 1536 well plate capability for fluorescence measurements, precise temperature control up to 60°C, shaking and well scanning enhance the assay flexibility.

The FLUOstar OPTIMA is a flexible multifunctional plate reader that offers four different measurement modes in one instrument: fluorescence intensity (fluorometer), time-resolved fluorescence (fluorometer), high-perfomance luminescence (luminometer) and absorbance (spectometer / spectrophotometer). The FLUOstar OPTIMA can be equipped with injectors that deliver reagent at the point of measurement so that fast kinetic cell assays can be performed easily and also allows the unit to perform flash luminescence assays.

The POLARstar Omega has all the features of the FLUOstar Omega, plus fluorescence polarization and simultaneous dual emission (fluorometer). The LUMIstar Omega is a compact and modular microplate luminescence reader (luminometer) that is designed for the widest possible range of applications based on luminescence labels. The instrument features a built-in filter wheel for measurement at distinct wavelengths, on-board reagent injectors, precise temperature control up to 60 °C, and is upgradeable to FLUOstar or POLARstar Omega, with full absorbance spectrum and four or five detection modes, respectively.

Designed for cell-based assays and a whole lot more, the NOVOstar provides both fluorescence and luminescence measurements in addition to the flexibility of an on-board reagent pipet.
